"Killowen Contracts Ltd have completed another successful contract with Hamilton Architects - Bryson House Office Fitout, Belfast. In accordance with our previous experience - the high standard of project management, skilled staff and experienced sub-contractors providing exemplary attention to detail in the renewal of degraded elements of the existing building fabric whilst overcoming specific access challenges of a riverside site, and efficiently completing structural alterations to remodel the interior - has contributed to this successful completion within a challenging construction programme, including additional remedial work discovered in the century old premises as work proceeded. Director level supervision delivering a personal pride in the finished product for the client typifies the comprehensive attention Killowen Contracts Ltd delivered in execution of the contract."
“The QUB Lanyon Restoration Project was undertaken over a 2-year period, this included multiple phases and involved complex management and coordination of the conservation works. The objective of the project was to restore the prestigious Grade A Listed Lanyon Building to its former glory while preserving, retaining and restoring as much of the original fabric as possible. This involved significant investigation into traditional construction skills and materials in an attempt to complement the original build, while addressing areas of disrepair through construction of new elements reflecting original craftsmanship. Killowen’s management of this complex programme was exemplary – engaging with and considering the needs of QUB staff and students, General Public, Historical Environment Division (HED), Health & Safety Executive Northern Ireland, Conservation Architects and the Design Team. The project buildability was greatly enhanced by their highly skilled workforce, procurement of specialist skilled labour, material selection, attention to detail and contract management which collectively resulted in the and high standards of finish.”
“Killowen Contracts have worked diligently, using a true partnering approach, with the Trust Estates Department for in excess of 15 years. In this time they have successfully delivered numerous complex multi-stranded projects. Killowen Contracts liaise regularly with diverse ranges of internal and external stakeholders including: Clinical Teams, Infection Control Teams, Estates Professionals, Multi-disciplinary Design Teams and other partnering contractors, to deliver excellent solutions on time, within budget and to the agreed quality. Their attention to detail in the execution and programming aspects of the project are particularly beneficial. They pro-actively manage and mitigate risk, bring buildability and value engineering solutions to client / designer workshops and work closely with all stakeholders to deliver completed projects of the highest quality.”
“I have worked with the team at Killowen Contracts several times over the last number of years and in that time have found their behaviour to be professional, honest and refreshing. They are responsive to contractual obligations, provide supporting documentation when requested and interact well with our clients, consultants and the design team. They are solution-based and accommodating when working through alternatives and resolutions to any issues that may arise during construction. The level of detail and attention at the end stages of a project is exemplary and they have always sought to reach an outcome that exceeds our expectations. I would recommend them wholeheartedly for future work.”

“We easily established a good working relationship with Killowen Contracts from the start, this helped deliver the project (Maryland’s Care Home) on programme and within the budget. Crucially there was dedicated senior management on site at all times who were able to keep tight control on progress and quality of work, and to respond immediately to queries. Killowen Contracts were able to adapt and accommodate changing Client requirements as the scheme progressed. The Killowen Contracts team were helpful and competent, I would recommend Killowen Contracts for future projects.”
“Killowen’s approach to delivering the fit-out works at 90 Lisburn Road for QUB was really positive. Scope was delivered to a very high standard and within a challenging programme; a further package of works was defined collaboratively and again delivered within a tight timeframe. The team were easy to work with and had a high focus on delivery, this included the site team and contract manager developing good relationships with Starbucks on the ground floor and an occupied tenant at Fourth Floor. Client and end user feedback was very positive and I’d have no problem recommending Killowen for works of a similar scale or complexity.”
“Killowen Contracts consistently provide a high-quality service to BHSCT under a Measured Term Contract. Their attitude, commitment and willingness to provide successful outcomes for all stakeholders is what sets them apart.”

Their professionalism, attention to detail and proactive attitude towards change management has ensured continual successful delivery taking account of all construction aspects including programme, cost, quality and health and safety.”
“Killowen Contracts were instrumental to the success of the Lanyon Restoration Project at Queen’s University Belfast. This all started with their careful selection of appropriate sub-contractors such as the Bristol firm Dorothea Restoration for the fabrication of new zinc windows and then integrating them with local stained glass specialist Glassmarque to do the refurbishment of the exiting zinc lattice windows. McConnell Stone played a key role having sufficient numbers of skilled banker and carving masons to address the complicated stone tracery, particularly on the West Elevation where each tracery stone was unique. McConnell Stone had suitable workshop facilities with saws and CNC machines etc. to keep up with the tight programme. These were three key subcontractors working on this tricky and complicated restoration project. From the start it was evident to all that Killowen Contracts and their subcontractors had a sense of pride in their work and were aware of the importance of the Lanyon Building representing the face of Queen’s University, both nationally and internationally. They instigated weekly meetings that not only helped with ensuring the programme was met but more importantly were a key management tool in being able to address any problems quickly when required, changing things around to facilitate the University if unexpected events arose. A great teamworking relationship was established between the University Estate Management Team, Consarc Conservation, Killowen Contracts and the various consultants.”
